The Nesting Authority Restructuring
Cranford arose this good morning, with little sleep, with one thing on his mind. It wasn’t breakfast or mingling with the locals. It was the restructuring of the Nesting Authority.
Ever since he and Thistlewyn had their conversation at the creek, his mind would not quieten itself. He had a mission, and it had to come to fruition.
He got up and headed over to Thistlewyn’s place to continue cultivating a relationship with her, for her input was very important to him. She and Steve saw things from a different perspective… from outside the box. Cran had been seeing things from a new outlook since she and Steve had become a larger part of his world, and he was better for it. He was seeing things from angles and directions he never had before, and he was the one who could nearly turn his head in a full circle! It was very exciting.
Cran had dropped by Steve’s house the day before and arranged a rendezvous at Les Rendez-Vous. This is the name Steve had given Thistlewyn’s home, without her knowledge, of course.
When Cran got within eyesight of Thistlewyn’s, he could see Steve had beaten him there.
Thistlewyn and Steve were curious as to why they were meeting today, but glad to spend a bit of time together. Cran lit near them and ruffled his feathers, like a dog shaking water from itself.
“Good morning!” Cran exclaimed. Both greeted him. Then Thistlewyn inquired as to the nature of his visit. Cran nervously, but with tact, reminded Thistlewyn about the conversation they’d had down at the creek. She nodded and then she informed Steve of the nature of the conversation between her and Cran.
Cran then said boldly, “My purpose here today is to recruit the two of you to assist me with the restructuring and recruiting within the Nesting Authority.”
Steve pulled out a black organizer and opened it, looked through the calendar, then replied, “I can work you in during the mornings of every day. I have already dedicated the afternoon part of the day to the Creek Project.”
Something moved behind Thistlewyn that caught Cran’s eye. It was Rosa. She greeted the group and then said, “I have been listening to you three discuss the restructure, and back home, that type of thing was my forté. If you bring me in as an aide, introduce me to the resources of the community, I can probably put together a functioning SOP for you. A little order, sí, sí?”
Cran looked at her, confused.
Steve then said, “Standard Operating Procedure.”
Cran began to get excited and said, “Thistlewyn, can you work with Rosa comfortably on this project?”
To which she replied, “Sure, like two wee joeys in a warm pouch.”
Again, Cran looked befuddled.
Then Steve chimed in again, “They will be fine.”
Cran then tacked a plaque above Thistlewyn’s door that read, Les Rendez-Vous.
Thistlewyn read it, then rolled her eyes. She said, “I don’t know how it happens. One minute, life’s sailing along grand, and the next, I’ve somehow landed myself on a committee. Sure, one of these days I may finally learn the fine art of saying no.”
Then Steve said, “Yep, one day we will all get to retirement age. But until then, we have exciting work to do. We can leave an infrastructure that will serve the community for ages.”
Then Thistlewyn belted out, “Ach! But I’m 300 years old!”
Then Cran said, “But that’s in dog years,” then winked.
