When it comes to breakfast-cooking in our kitchen, I am the one on call 24/7. I have used several different skillets with varying personal opinions about them.  One thing is for sure; I have never been totally pleased when it comes to frying eggs.  For my birthday, my loving bride gave me a 7.5-inch cast iron skillet.   It had some new-fangled coating on it called Titanium Ceramic, which claims to be PFAS-free.  According to the directions for use, the pan is good for frying or baking and is rated for up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.  The tool can be used to cook on a stovetop, on a grill, or in an oven.

I got the bacon grease out and put a spoonful in the new skillet and brought it to cooking temperature.  I added a couple of eggs and began the test phase.  I was so pleased with this first use of this skillet.  The eggs cooked evenly, there was no sticking, and cooking eggs over-easy was so effortless.  No breaking the yolk or anything annoying.  The eggs came out beautifully perfect.

T-Bone puts the Zakarian by DASH 7.5-inch Nonstick Cast Iron Skillet to the test by frying two eggs over easy. See how the skillet cooks, releases, and handles a real breakfast in the T-Bone's Place kitchen.

My wife is so particular about her eggs.  She can’t even satisfy herself in the egg arena.  But she was so pleased with the eggs I served her.  That was in June of this year, and I have been cooking eggs in the Zakarian by DASH skillet a couple of times a week with the same results.

On Amazon, it was highly rated.  Some of the poorer reviews mentioned the Titanium Ceramic coating chipping or flaking.  I have been following the factory-recommended usage, such as kitchen utensils to be used and hand washing the skillet, instead of using the dishwasher.  I can’t tell you if in three or six months from now, the coating will be like new, but I can say that if total durability is what you are looking for, maybe uncoated cast iron will be more your style.  As for me, if the pan lasts a few more months, I will reinvest in a new Zakarian by DASH non-stick cast iron 7.5-inch skillet.  I will probably begin looking into the other sizes of the same Zakarian by DASH line.  I am a happy camper!!
