Porter Cable 12-Inch Miter Saw Review

After 8 Years of Use 🪚

My wife was talking to her son on the phone, and he was expressing his yen to go buy a miter saw Lowe’s had on sale. I decided to run up to Lowe’s to take a gander at it.

When I got to the power tool department, I immediately got a big shot of dopamine. But when I was looking at the sale model my stepson was referring to, my brain said to me, ‘Like Hell!!’

I moved away from the sale rack to the Porter-Cable line nearby. There I found a miter saw with a 12” carbide-tipped blade. The base had a 0 to +/- 45-degree swing; the head had 0-to-45-degree adjustment. I really liked it, so I bought it. My wife understands me so well.

I have done several projects over the years using this Porter-Cable miter saw. As a matter of fact, if it weren’t so blasted hot outside, I would still be out there working on the new T-Bone’s Tool Shed Project.

This morning, I began the framework on the tool shed, but by noon I was shot. Now I’m waiting for that wonderful time in the evening, when the shade gets there and cools it enougn to make it tolerable.

One thing I like about the miter saw is that the electric motor that drives the blade has replaceable brushes, even though I haven’t had a problem with them.

It may have been considered a budget saw when I bought it, but it has built a greenhouse, a rabbit hutch, and now it is helping build T-Bone’s Tool Shed. It may have been budget-priced, but it sure hasn’t been a slouch. After eight years of use, the saw has been tough and dependable and is, in general, a nice-looking unit… When this ol’ girl goes down, I am going back to the Porter-Cable line for something that can fill her shoes. I know they don’t carry a miter saw in their current lineup, but maybe they’ll add one back in the near future. They sure did a helluva job with this one, IMHO. 😁🫶

I also have a couple of 20V battery-powered drills by Porter-Cable. These drills are tough and powerful. If you set the torque limiter on the maximum setting and it gets hung up, you better be on top of your game or you will get your wrist sprung. LOL 😮‍💨🤪 I will write another review on those soon!
