MY GAS-POWERED EARTH AUGER REVIEW

I was out in my yard putting up fence posts.  I had my trusty manual post hole diggers and all was going well.  When I got to the north border of my land, something changed.  The soil, about 3 inches beneath the surface turned into an impenetrable material.  I got my sharp pry bar, and between the two implements, I managed to dig three holes--in one day.  I was wearing leather gloves, but it literally destroyed my hands.  Took me two weeks to heal!  I told my wife I wanted a gas-powered auger.  What she found is the NEOTEC 72CC, two stroke auger.  I uncrated it and assembled it.  It came with three augers.  An 8-inch, a 6-inch and a 4-inch.  It  came with the tools to install the auger, but it also came with a container to properly mix the fuel.  I did these things and on the third pull the engine roared to life.

We put the NEOTEC 72CC gas-powered earth auger to work on real post holes in East Texas soil. Here’s what helped, what fought back, and whether we’d use it again.

Don’t let me lie to you, it was still work.  After a couple hours I had my holes dug and it was much more efficient than the manual method and the $189 we spent on it was worth EVERY penny.  Go to the attached link and purchase your own!

PROS AND CONS OF THE NEOTEC 72CC AUGER

PROS :

  • Attractive Unit

  • Seems to be well built

  • Powerful

  • Easy to assemble

  • Makes quick work of hole digging

  • Easy to start

  • Fuel mixing container is a no brainer

  • Not too heavy

CONS:

  • The throttle lock lever broke.  It was plastic and looked like an injection mold malfunction. I don’t use the lock anyway.

I consider this to be a solid purchase.  The one we originally purchased with the 4”, 6” and 8” augers isn’t available in that configuration any longer; however, it does come with the 6” and 10” auger bits and an 8” extension, which we did not get, for just a little bit more $$ than what my wife paid and that is a steal! I cannot think of an application where I will use the 4” auger bit that came with my set, but that extension sure would come in handy.
