Earthworm Castings Tea

The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,

They turn the soil without a doubt.

In compost heaps, they hustle all day,

Turning garden dreams into reality.

Earthworm castings tea

If you’ve ever wondered about the secret to happy, flourishing plants, earthworms might just hold the answer—no magic required! These tireless little garden workers don’t just boogie underground; they’re brewing up something truly special for your soil. Enter earthworm tea: the gardener’s version of a power smoothie, packed with nutrients and natural goodness.

Okay, let’s get down and dirty: if you want your plants to live their absolute best lives, you gotta let the worms do their thing! These underground MVPs are out there making literal “black gold” for your garden. Yup, we’re talking about earthworm tea—a straight-up magical brew that’ll have your veggies vibing and your flowers popping.

What Even *Is* Earthworm Tea?

It’s basically a super-charged garden turbo tonic made from worm castings (that’s worm poop, folks—don’t be squeamish). When you steep those castings in water, you get a powerhouse mix of nutrients and top dog microbes ready to party (like it’s 1999…) in your soil.

Why Should You Care?

·       Soil gets a glow-up. We’re talking fluffier, airier, *peppier* dirt thanks to a blast of microbes and improved structure. It’s like a spa day for your soil.

·       Plants go beast mode. Faster germination, stronger roots, bushier growth, and crazy yields. Your maters will be bragging.

·       The environment wins too. Less food waste in landfills, fewer sad greenhouse gases, and more jobs for local folks. All good stuff.

How to Make Earthworm Tea (The Quick & Dirty Edition)

Earthworm Castings Tea, brewed in a 5-gallon bucket, in the greenhouse in “caught” rainwater. We just go by and add some to the plants as they need added nutrients.

·       Grab some worm castings, a bucket, and water. If you’ve got a paint mixer on the end of a drill, great—if not, a big spoon will do.

·       Toss a few big handfuls of castings in the bucket, fill with water, and give it a good stir.

·       Let it hang out for 24-48 hours. Stir every once in a while if you remember.

·       Strain it if you’re feeling fancy, or just go for it and scoop straight from the bucket. We leave our bucket hanging out in the greenhouse and scoop from whenever we see a plant that looks like it needs a little extra somethin’.

ººº Note: Honestly, we skipped the straining and just ladled that sexy, nutrient-rich goodness right onto our plants—no shame. Gave each one a solid drink (one ladle, maybe three if they looked thirsty), watered it in, and BOOM~ by the next morning, we had some seriously perky plants! Trust the process.

How to Use Earthworm Tea

Take your liquid garden magic and pour it directly onto the soil or mist it over your leaves if you’re feeling extra. Once every few weeks during the growing season, and you’ll be the proud plant parent everyone envies.

Is your soil sadly lacking in the necessary nutrients for your plants to thrive?
